A guide to getting your wedding accessories photo-ready

You’ve probably seen those dreamy flat lays and gorgeous dress shots that kick off a wedding gallery. Ever wonder how they come together so beautifully? The secret: a little prep on your end makes a huge difference—and we’ve got you covered with exactly what to set aside.

When we arrive on the wedding day, we like to start with the wedding accessories. It gives us time to ease into the story of your day while you’re finishing up hair and makeup (no rush, no pressure!). If you can gather everything into one box or bag—bonus points if it has handles for easy carrying—we can quickly grab it and find the best light to work our magic.

Wedding Accessories including invite, shoes, rings and necklaces

Here’s what we recommend having ready for us when we arrive:

For the Bride

(Feel free to include bridesmaids’ items too if you want those captured!)

  • The wedding dress

  • Bridesmaids’ dresses

  • Flower girl dresses (if you have them)

  • Pretty hangers (matching ones make a huge visual difference!)

  • Rings – all three: your engagement ring, your wedding band, and his band

  • Shoes (yours and your bridesmaids’)

  • Jewelry (yours and your bridesmaids’)

  • Perfume bottle

  • Veil or headpiece

  • Hair accessories or flower crowns

  • Bouquets + boutonnieres

  • Full stationery suite: invitation, envelopes, save-the-date, program, menu, etc.

  • Garter

  • Any special heirlooms or “something old/new/borrowed/blue”

  • A sweet note or gift from your partner

  • Gifts for bridesmaids or parents

  • Anything that matches your color palette or wedding theme—ribbons, trays, fabric swatches, you name it!

For the Groom

(Our second shooter will typically be photographing these!)

  • Boutonnières

  • Tie/bowtie

  • Watch

  • Shoes

  • Cufflinks

  • Belt or suspenders

  • Pocket square

  • Cologne

  • Any gifts, letters, or special keepsakes

Quick Tips:

  • Keep everything in one spot to save time and help us get started quickly.

  • If you're unsure about including something, bring it anyway! We’ll style what makes sense and skip what doesn’t.

  • Don’t stress about perfection. The real magic is in the story, and we’ll make it feel beautifully you no matter what.

Still not sure what to include? Or want help pulling it all together? We’re always just an email or text away—seriously, we love this part of the planning process and are happy to help.

Let’s make the morning of feel calm, intentional, and full of all the beautiful little pieces that matter most.
