More presence, less pressure, and a moment just for the two of you.

Let’s be honest—wedding days can move fast. You’re surrounded by your people, caught up in celebration, and soaking in all the love. It’s beautiful... and also a lot.
That’s why we’re big fans of the first look. It’s not just about the photos (though yes, they will be dreamy). It’s about carving out intentional space to breathe, connect, and really feel the day as it unfolds.
Here are five reasons why a first look might just be the best choice you make:
1. It calms the nerves.
The second you're dressed and everything starts to feel real, the butterflies usually kick in. But the moment you lay eyes on your person—deep breath. Everything softens. It’s grounding. Centering. A quiet reminder of why you’re here: to begin your forever, together.
2. You’ll get more time to be present.
Doing portraits before the ceremony means we can knock out a big chunk of photos early—couple portraits, wedding party, and sometimes even family. Translation? More time after the ceremony to actually be at your cocktail hour, hug your people, sip something cold, and soak it all in.
3. Your timeline will thank you.
Without a first look, there’s a lot to fit in after the ceremony: family formals, full bridal party, your couple portraits... and you’re on the clock before dinner. A first look gives your timeline breathing room so the day feels smooth, relaxed, and unrushed.
4. It gives you a private moment together.
Wedding days can feel like a beautiful blur. A first look offers a chance to slow down before everything kicks off. Just the two of you—no crowd, no pressure. It's often one of the most emotional, grounding parts of the entire day.
5. You can exchange private vows.
Not feeling a big public vow moment? A first look is the perfect time to share private vows in a way that feels personal and true to you. No microphone. No audience. Just you two, speaking from the heart.
At the end of the day, whether or not you choose to do a first look is totally up to you.
Some couples love the anticipation of seeing each other at the altar. Others feel more connected starting the day side by side. There’s no right answer—just what feels most you.
And whatever you choose, we’ll be right there to capture it all. Honestly, naturally, and true to the moment.
